2007 Conference Talks

With 2007 almost over and because we live in a great age of the Internet, I thought I might link to some free conferences that I have downloaded this year and recommend that you also have a listen to them. (Also last night and tonight I am going to scab a free talk from NTE - and you can get past NTE talks here for free)

2007 Desiring God Conference for Pastors: The Holiness of God: R.C Sproul (author of the Holiness of God) was the keynote speaker. He made me think about what holiness really means. His last talk (Holiness and Justice) did a really good job describing justice and grace. Speakers include: R.C. Sproul, Thabiti Anyabwile, William Mackenzie and John Piper.

Stand- A Call for the Endurance of the Saints: This conference talked about what measures we should take today so that we persevere in our faith till the end. John MacArthur also gives a bit of reflections on what he has learnt while being the minister of the same church for about 40 years. (I know this is another DG conference, but they offer free talks so why not download them?). Speakers include: John MacArthur, Jerry Bridges, Randy Alcorn, Helen Roseveare and John Piper.

Convergent Conference: This was a really good set of talks on how the church should be involved in the community and be more missional. They talk about how the current mainline churches are in decline and not reaching out to people, unlike the emergent ones. Speakers include: J.D. Greear, Ed Stetzer, Mark Driscoll, Dr. Daniel Akin and Dr. Alvin Reid.

The Gospel Coalition: A new conference headed up by Don Carson and Tim Keller that will run every two years (to compliment Together For the Gospel which is run every alternate year). It is mostly aimed at ministers, but the key talks were still good. They have other workshops and interviews that you can download as well. Speakers include: Don Carson, Tim Keller, Crawford Loritts and John Piper.

New Attitude 2007 (another link here): This whole conference was on discernment. It looked at how we can discern doctrine, culture, our hearts, the grey matters and God. Speakers include: Joshua Harris, Mark Dever, Albert Mohler, C.J. Mahaney, Eric Simmons and John Piper.

2007 Canberra Mens Convention - Like Father, Like Son (bottom 4 links, the ones above are past one. I attended the year before with David Cook and John Dickson and they were really good): I was soft and didn't attend this conference, even though it was in my town. The conference was to motivate men to imitate Christ. (The audio isn't as good as the others but you can still listen to them.) Speakers include: David Jones and Ray Galea.
